2001 jeep with nv3550 trans WITH a 1" drop.
the jeep had a loose shifter, causing some shift mists and unable to downwhift to 2nd gear.
The B&M short shifter cured all of my shifting problems. It is firm and feels sporty, the shift points are indeed much much closer and very precise.I added a little extra bearing grease and put some RTV sealant at the base.Took me 1h45min to instal everything nice and clean.I have knuckle clearance from the dash in 1st,3rd,5th gear and nothing is touching inside the floor board.
only thing now is i have to bend the shifter backward (with pipe torch)to get a more comfortable driving position, thus the four stars...
tip on loose shifter: if the loose is found up and down rather then front/back and left/right,then you don't need a 200$ aftermarket shifter! just change the 57$ bushing located down the shifter shaft, oem part#048-74352,Mopar makes one for 25$
hope this helps
cheers, Alex.P

Fine is you want to rap your knuckles on the dash every time you shift into 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears. Even after bending the shaft carefully in a press this thing still has minimal room between your knuckles and the dash. Go with the Hurst and it has to be better than this one. Disappointing from a company like B&M. Tried to give this a half star, don't waste your $$$.

Bought this some years ago when first came out. There's not enough room between the shaft of this shifter and the dash when in the forward gears of 1st, 3'rd and 5th gears. You knuckles will careen into the dash every time and 'crunch'. That's no fun. If not for my dad's press we could not have bent it to make it somewhat usable tolerable. Don't buy this thing, try that other brand (Hurst I think) as anything is better. The craftsmanship is nice, but it does not take into account the fact your hand has no room between the dash and the shift knob, c'mon, major design flaw here in what would otherwise have been a quality piece? if I could I'd give it a half star not even a one of 5 rating.
